______

Each an every camp we are so proud to see what our members can achieve in just 6 weeks. Thank you to our community for joining us in this challenge, we have seen so many incredible transformations and have announced your winners!

AND THE WINNERS ARE…

MAT
MALE INTERNATIONAL WINNER
“I fight to prove to myself that I can”

In just 6 weeks, Mat lost 10.5kg in total body weight and 10.3% body fat! Here is what Mat had to say about his Training Camp experience:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A UBX’ER?

“I joined the UBX Mornington team in December 2019, just a couple months before the 09// Training Camp. One of my mates had signed up and couldn’t speak more highly of the training, so I thought I’d just give it a go. I’d been training at another gym but hadn’t seen any progress, but as soon as I tried UBX, having the support of a trainer and the motivation of seeing my Heart Rate on the screen through my Myzone, I could immediately see the benefits.”

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO DO THE TRAINING CAMP?

“Before UBX I just didn’t realised that I had kind of let myself go and I wanted to get into better shape. The Training Camp was a great opportunity for me to get back on track mentally as well because I had something to work towards and something to look forward to. Most of all, I just wanted to see if I can do it.”

WHAT WAS YOUR APPROACH TO TRAINING CAMP?

“My main goal was consistency, I wanted to prove to myself that I could stick to something. I’m a plumber and work during the week so I made a commitment to train 5 days a week straight after work which set my routine. I set myself pretty reasonable and realistic goals, initially I just wanted to lose 3kg, but I managed to lose over 10kg.

As well as the training, I started tracking my calories, made sure I was eating better food and being mindful of what I was eating. I used a lot of the meals from the Meal Plan, but mostly focused on what was easy to track.

The challenge itself was what made me stay consistent. I’d already been progressing since joining UBX, but used the Training Camp to stay on track. 6 weeks is a great amount of time to stick to it.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS?

“Just get down to a club and give it a go. It can be intimidating trying something new but from my experience at UBX Mornington everyone is very experienced and helpful.”

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS NOW?

“Now, I’m focused on increasing my muscle mass and continuing my routine of training regularly. I made a habit of always getting into the gym on a Monday to set myself up for the week.”

CHRIS
FEMALE INTERNATIONAL WINNER
“I fight to make the most out of life”

After completing the 6 week challenge, Chris had lost 4.3kg in total body weight, reducing her body fat by 10.3% and gained 1.6kg of muscle mass. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A UBX’ER?

“I started at the beginning of the Training Camp. I had done my Free Trial a little while back with UBX Camberwell, but it was just before school holidays when I usually take care of my grandkids so I didn’t sign up straight away. The team were great though, I enjoyed my workout, so when I saw there was a Training Camp coming up I decided to just go for it.”

WHY DID YOU BECOME A MEMBER?

“I was a reasonably fit person before the challenge, but I knew I needed to pick it up a bit more. And I just love the boxing as well as the HIIT nature of the rounds.

I love all of my trainers, they are all so wonderful and so inspirational. They always make you feel like you’re doing a great job and always motivate you even when you feel you’re not at your best.

I love that I can come in any time and just start. It’s not like if it’s a class and you’re not on time, you’re late for that class.

The entire UBX program is wonderful, it’s changed my body shape because I’ve lost weight but I’ve also toned up a lot

As soon as the camp ended, I signed up to continue training”

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO DO THE TRAINING CAMP?

“I really love the way the training works, but most of all it was the coaches. There was no pressure on me to join, it was more to make sure I enjoyed it. They followed up with me after, but didn’t harass me, they more just stayed in touch. The whole experience, as soon as I got through the door I felt like I was in the right place.

The pad work is great too. It makes you think, helps you focus and really breaks up the workout and improves my aerobic fitness. I notice the difference it makes to my heart rate which is so special compared to other fitness options out there.

I’m much better in a social environment, and if I can see someone else working harder than me I can mentally push harder again. I can motivate myself to a certain degree, but the UBX environment, with the coaches pushes me even further.”

WHAT WAS YOUR APPROACH TO TRAINING CAMP?

“I got the Body Scan done, then set my goals from there. I wanted to lose weight and also improve my overall composition score. I just hadn’t realised how I had begun to look until I took my Before photos.

During Covid, my fitness level had dropped so I wanted to get back to an ideal place in my overall fitness and become more athletic again.

6 weeks is a great amount of time to stick to it.

I used the app and followed the Meal Plan, with small adjustments to suit my personal needs. I used it with my husband too who’s usually a fussy eater.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS?

“Mindset is really important, you have to convince yourself that I can do it. Starting something new doesn’t have to be daunting, you can take small steps and make adjustments to make it work for you. But just give it a try.

Accountability is important too. once I started saying to my friends that I was going to do something, in my mind I thought well now I have to do it

And don’t be afraid to ask for help. With the training, if you’re struggling a bit, just know that your coaches are there to help you, and there are other members there that are willing to help. So if you’re ever unsure about what you’re doing or need some help, just ask. It’s such a friendly environment, it’s very positive and there’s always someone there willing to give you encouragement. There’s no judgement.”

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS NOW?

“Now that I’ve achieved what I have, my focus is mostly on my athletic performance, I want to keep pushing myself to an elite level. I’ve seen what I can do and I’m confident I can get there.

Since the challenge, we’ve changed our eating habits so much. I never thought I could give up refined sugar as much as I have, but it’s not as hard as I thought.

I’ve found that ever since starting UBX, I’m a lot less stressed. My mental health has really improved and overall I feel amazing. Like if something were to come up, any issues with my family, I feel like I’m a lot more calm and mentally focused.

I’m on holidays now and using the app while I’m away. As long as I stay active even a little with a walk here and there, or a quick workout while on holidays, I’ll feel confident that I’m staying on track”

Congratulations to these two fighters who took on Training Camp like champions and achieved these amazing transformations, physically, athletically and mentally.

Thank you to all of our UBX’ers and UBX’ers that joined us for 09 // Training Camp.
